Gosberton & District Local History Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of people, places and events of Gosberton and the surrounding area.
The Society meets at the Church Hall in Gosberton on a quarterly basis, and anyone is welcome to attend. These meetings regularly attract around 80 members, making it, we believe, the best attended local history meeting in the District. Meetings often include presentations from guest speakers, and exhibits of various historical photographs and memorabilia are a regular feature. Members are encouraged, in a very relaxed and informal way, to share their stories, old photographs, old maps, books and such like. Although all periods of history are covered, emphasis is given to the following aspects, which members have said they are most interested in:
- 18th Century to 20th Century
- family history and people
- local buildings, places and old maps
- local people, place names and stories
Admission is only £1, which includes tea, coffee and biscuits. Check the calendar on this website for details of the next meeting.
Becoming a member costs nothing, and is without any obligation. Members receive, via email, a digital copy of the Society’s quarterly newsletter, ‘GOSBERTON’S PAST TIMES.’ Printed copies are available on request, at a charge of £2 per copy. Past copies are available online here:
